My great-great-great-grandfather Parley Pratt was a poet and a preacher. During a mission in SouthAmerica, he wrote a poem entitled “November in Chile” describing how, despite the beautiful springweather, he longed for family and “the wintry blasts of [his] mountain home.”
I wrote this solo cellopiece after reading his poem for the first time. Although I perform this as a solo cello piece, the melody does fit the poem. I’ve included the text with the sheet music, so that you can sing while you play, if you’d like.Enjoy!
